Straight Talk APN depends on the SIM network

Straight Talk (sold at Walmart) is part of the Tracfone family. Newer SIMs activate on Verizon and use tfdata. Older SIMs activate on AT&T and use att.mvno.

Before editing the APN, check which network your SIM uses by looking at the SIM card or the first six digits of the ICCID.

Full setup and troubleshooting

Straight Talk APN basics

Straight Talk SIMs can be on either Verizon or AT&T. The SIM kit you bought determines the network. The APN value depends on which network your SIM uses.

Verizon-based SIMs

APN: tfdata. MMSC: http://mmsc.tracfone.com. MMS proxy: mms3.tracfone.com. This covers most newer Straight Talk activations.

AT&T-based SIMs

APN: att.mvno. MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net. MMS proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net:80. This covers older Straight Talk SIM kits.

How to check your network

Go to Settings ? About Phone ? SIM status or look at the ICCID number printed on the SIM card. 8901xxxx = Verizon. 890128xxxx = AT&T.

iPhone setup

Settings ? Cellular ? Cellular Data Network. Enter the APN for your SIM network. MMS fields are on the same screen.

Before calling support

  • Test both tfdata and att.mvno if unsure which network your SIM uses.
  • Toggle airplane mode for 10 seconds after each APN change.
  • Verify your Straight Talk plan has available data.
