Use the right APN for Tello — wholesale is the primary value
This guide covers the Tello profile for the United States. Tello operates as an MVNO on the T-Mobile network and uses wholesale as its primary APN.
On most Tello-compatible phones, the APN is configured automatically when the SIM is inserted. If your data works out of the box, no manual change is needed.
Manual APN configuration is needed when using an unlocked phone, after a network reset, or when switching from another carrier.

Before changing the APN
Tello is a T-Mobile MVNO. On most phones the APN is configured automatically through a carrier profile. If your data works out of the box, you do not need to change anything.
Manual APN configuration is needed on unlocked phones, after a network reset, or when switching from another carrier without re-activating the Tello SIM.
APN value
Tello uses wholesale as its primary APN on the T-Mobile network. This is the standard T-Mobile MVNO APN.
eSIM setup
Tello supports eSIM on compatible devices. When you activate a Tello eSIM, the carrier profile and APN are installed automatically. Manual APN editing is rarely needed with eSIM.
Hotspot configuration
Tello includes mobile hotspot on most plans. The same wholesale APN works for hotspot. If hotspot does not work, add ,dun to the APN type.
MMS configuration
Tello MMS uses the AT&T MMS gateway. Set the MMSC to http://mmsc.mobile.att.net and the MMS proxy to proxy.mobile.att.net:80.
Testing
After saving the APN, disable WiFi, toggle airplane mode for ten seconds, and test in a browser.
