Use the right APN for Boost Mobile — depends on your SIM type

This guide covers the Boost Mobile profile for the United States. Boost Mobile is in transition: new SIMs run on the T-Mobile network, while older AT&T-based SIMs use different APN values.

The APN you need depends on which Boost Mobile SIM you have. T-Mobile network SIMs use Boost_Mobile. AT&T network SIMs use ERASE or ATT.MXKEY.

Check which network your SIM is on by looking at the SIM card or your Boost account details.

APN fields

Field Boost (T-Mobile SIM) Boost (AT&T SIM) Note
Name (Internet) Boost Mobile Boost Mobile This is only a label inside your phone.
APN Boost_Mobile ERASE or ATT.MXKEY T-Mobile SIM: Boost_Mobile. AT&T SIM: try ERASE first.
APN type default, supl, mms default, supl, mms Add ,dun if hotspot does not work.
Protocol IPv4/IPv6 or device default IPv4/IPv6 or device default Keep the device default when unsure.

MNC 260 (T-Mobile) 410 or 150 (AT&T) Use the MNC matching your SIM network.
MMSC http://mm.myboostmobile.com http://mmsc.mobile.att.net Different MMSC depending on network SIM.
MMS proxy proxy.mobile.att.net:80 Only AT&T SIMs need an MMS proxy.

Boost Mobile migrated most customers to the T-Mobile network. If you have a newer SIM, use Boost_Mobile. If you have an older AT&T-based SIM, use ERASE or ATT.MXKEY.

Setup

Setup steps for Android

  1. Open Settings, tap Network & Internet, then SIMs or Mobile Network.
  2. Select your Boost Mobile SIM and tap Access Point Names.
  3. If the APN menu is greyed out, Boost is managing the profile automatically — no changes needed.
  4. Tap the + icon to create a new APN, or edit the existing Boost profile.
  5. Enter Boost_Mobile (or ERASE for AT&T SIM) as the APN value.
  6. Set the APN type to default, supl, mms. Leave all other fields at default.
  7. Save the profile, select it if your phone asks, then disable WiFi for the test.
  8. Toggle airplane mode for ten seconds and open a browser before testing apps or hotspot.

Setup

Setup steps for iPhone

  1. Open Settings, tap Cellular, then Cellular Data Network.
  2. If you have an eSIM, tap the Boost Mobile line under Cellular Plans first.
  3. Enter Boost_Mobile (or ERASE) in the APN field for cellular data.
  4. Leave the username and password fields blank. Boost does not use them.
  5. For MMS on AT&T SIMs, enter http://mmsc.mobile.att.net in the MMSC field and proxy.mobile.att.net:80 in the MMS proxy.
  6. For MMS on T-Mobile SIMs, use http://mm.myboostmobile.com as the MMSC.
  7. Go back, disable WiFi, toggle airplane mode and test in Safari.

Guide

Full setup and troubleshooting notes

Before changing the APN

Boost Mobile is in transition. Most new activations use the T-Mobile network, but older SIMs and AT&T-based Boost SIMs still use the AT&T network. The APN you need depends on your SIM type.

If your phone is Boost-branded, the APN is usually pre-configured and does not need manual changes.

APN by SIM type

  • T-Mobile network SIM (newer): APN `Boost_Mobile`. MMSC `http://mm.myboostmobile.com`. No MMS proxy.
  • AT&T network SIM (older): APN `ERASE` or `ATT.MXKEY`. MMSC `http://mmsc.mobile.att.net`. MMS proxy `proxy.mobile.att.net:80`.

eSIM setup

Boost Mobile supports eSIM on compatible devices. The APN is configured automatically during eSIM activation.

Hotspot configuration

Boost includes mobile hotspot on most plans. The same APN works for hotspot. If hotspot does not work, add ,dun to the APN type.

Testing

After saving, disable WiFi, toggle airplane mode for ten seconds, and test in a browser.

Before contacting support

Final checks if data does not work

  • Confirm you are using the correct APN for your SIM type (Boost_Mobile vs ERASE).
  • Set APN type to default, supl, mms and add ,dun if hotspot is the issue.
  • On dual-SIM phones, confirm that the Boost line is selected for mobile data.
  • Check that your Boost plan is active.
  • Toggle airplane mode for 10 seconds after every APN change.
