Use the APN as a controlled test, not a guess
This guide focuses on the EE profile for the United Kingdom. It keeps the setup short so you can test whether the APN is the real cause before changing sensitive fields.
If your phone already has a carrier profile, compare it first. A duplicate APN can make Android select the wrong profile, while iPhone may hide the APN menu completely when carrier settings control it.
APN fields
EE UK APN starting point
| Field | Value | Use this note |
|---|---|---|
| Name (Internet) | EE Internet | This is only a label inside your phone. |
| APN | everywhere | Main value to test first. The EE APN is almost always everywhere. |
| APN type | default, supl | Use only if the field exists and the phone accepts it. |
| Protocol | IPv4/IPv6 or device default | Keep the device default when unsure. |
| Username and password | Not set | Most EE plans do not require a username or password. |
| MCC | 234 | Verify with your SIM card info. |
| MNC | 30 | Verify with your SIM card info. |
| MMSC | http://mms/ | For MMS configuration. |
| MMS proxy | Leave empty on most devices. |
EE also owns the BT Mobile and Plusnet Mobile brands, which may use different APN values. If switching from one of those, reset the APN to default and use the EE profile.

Full setup and troubleshooting notes
Before changing the APN
Use this page when an EE UK SIM is active but mobile data does not browse, apps stay offline, hotspot sharing fails, or the phone lost its profile after a network reset. The first rule is to make the smallest useful change.
For EE UK, the APN value is almost always `everywhere`. This single value works for 4G and 5G data connectivity. If your SIM pack, account settings, or carrier support gives a different value, use that plan-specific value.
Alternative APN values
If `everywhere` does not work, some older EE SIMs or business accounts may use: - `wap.everywhere` — legacy WAP APN - `btmobile.bt.com` — if migrating from BT Mobile
What to enter first
Set the profile name to something you will recognize later, enter `everywhere` in the APN field, save the profile and select it. Leave username and password empty. If MCC and MNC are visible, do not rewrite them by hand.
On Android, the menu is usually Settings, Network and Internet, SIMs, Access Point Names. On iPhone, open Settings, Cellular, Cellular Data Network and edit the APN field under Cellular Data.
Testing your connection
After saving the APN, disable WiFi and toggle airplane mode on for ten seconds. Open a browser and load a simple page. If it loads, test messaging, streaming, and hotspot one at a time.
Before calling support
Final checks if the APN does not work
- Confirm that the SIM is the selected data line on dual-SIM phones.
- Check that the data plan is active and not blocked by a spending cap.
- Remove duplicate APNs only after recording the original values.
- Test outside or near a window to separate APN problems from weak signal.
- Pause VPN, private DNS or device management for one controlled test.
Questions
EE UK APN questions
What is the EE APN for 5G?
EE uses the same APN for 5G as for 4G: everywhere. No separate 5G APN is needed.
Does EE require a username and password for APN?
No. Most EE consumer plans do not require a username or password for mobile data.
Can I use the EE APN on BT Mobile?
No. BT Mobile uses a different APN (btmobile.bt.com). If your SIM is from BT, use the BT Mobile profile instead.
What if everywhere does not work on my EE SIM?
Check that mobile data is enabled in the quick settings, that the plan is active, and that the device has not blocked the APN change. If the APN field is greyed out, the carrier profile controls it.
